ACTIVITIES DESCRIPTION AND FEES

The Program Activities are booked at
the time of the camp booking. It may be possible for the activity to be
booked through the weekend ranger if it has not been previously booked.
Contact the weekend ranger when you arrive at camp to make arrangements
with him/her for using and returning the program equipment.
A Program Period is approximately 2 1/2
to 3 hours in length – a morning or an afternoon.
Camp Sylvan develops new program
activities as interest and funds are available. Check the website for

TRAVERSE WALL |
A low risk climbing activity consisting
of a horizontal wall running approximately 70 feet long and 8 feet high
with adjustable hand and foot holds on each side of the wall.
The Traverse Wall is suitable for all
ages. The hand and foot holds can be installed in simple or
complex patterns.
An Information Sheet is emailed
to the contact leader before the camp.

6 (six) GPS units available for use. |

MOUNTAIN BIKES AND TRAILS |
30 Mountain bikes available. Bikes are
mainly for Scouts, Venturers, Rovers and leaders. A few older Cubs may
be large enough to use the few smaller bikes.
The trails are marked and traverse the
hills and bridges of the camp.
Some of the trails follow the
existing hiking/walking trails. The NORTH Trail is the easier
trail and may be used by first time bikers. The SOUTH trail is quite
challenging with hills, bridges and sharp turns. This trail is
better used by experienced bikers or those developing skills.
Leaders and youth are expected
to learn how to manage the bike and make simple repairs. Bikes
must be signed out and in and returned in good condition for the next
users.

ZIP LINE |
The Zip line is next to Sylvan House.
It has two lines. The helmets, gloves and harnesses are stored in Sylvan
House. Each group using the Zip line must have a Zip line Supervisor
plus additional assistants trained in the safe and appropriate methods
of dismount from the line.
Camp Sylvan has a list of trained
scouters. Please contact Nancy Claus at
nanandjay@sympatico.ca
for names to contact. Cubs, Scouts and Venturers may use the Zip Line.
There are weight restrictions in effect. An Information Sheet
is emailed to the Contact leader before the camp.

SNOWSHOES |
There are 2 sets of 20 pair of
different size snowshoes. They are suitable to all sections. and
leaders. They can be strapped to most boots.
It is important to have sufficient snow
to use snowshoes –
at
least
6cm. |
