The Emerald Ash Borer, a destructive insect that attacks and kills ash trees, is considered one of the worst invasive alien forest pest ever introduced to North America. The major risk for spreading this insect is through the movement of infested firewood. Campers who bring firewood with them to campgrounds and lodges may unknowingly spread the Emerald Ash Borer.
Regulated materials cannot be moved outside of designated areas. (Do not cross County boundaries.) These materials include nursery stock, trees, logs, wood, rough lumber including pallets and other wood packaging materials, bark, wood and bark chips and firewood of all tree species.
Inform all property users of the restrictions on transporting firewood and if they have transported firewood then please confiscate it and safely burn it immediately before insects or eggs can leave the wood and contaminate the surrounding trees in your area.
